Semarang-Diponegoro University (UNDIP) is one of the best universities in Indonesia. Aware of the students’ need to know about automotive developments in Indonesia, especially trending vehicle units, the Department of Mechanical Engineering UNDIP invited Yamaha to share information related to automotive technology developments. Yamaha as one of the motorcycle manufacturers in Indonesia welcomed the offer from the Department of Mechanical Engineering UNDIP. Located in the United Tractor room of the UNDIP Mechanical Engineering Campus, on April 20 2018, Yamaha gave a public lecture to students of the Mechanical Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering at UNDIP. The performers were M. Abidin as General Manager of After Sales Service & Motorsport of PT Yamaha Indonesia Motor Mfg, and accompanied by Mr. Aji Handoko from PT Yamaha Indonesia Motor Mfg.

M. Abidin explained about “Maxi Yamaha Success”. “The success of the Maxi Yamaha cannot be separated from the growth of the middle class, which has led to changes in the needs and desires of today’s society. So, consumers today want to upgrade to premium types of motorcycles. The success of the Maxi is also supported by the innovations made by Yamaha by developing the Maxi Category, from the beginning we only developed NMAX to the top level for consumers who want pride with the XMAX & TMAX models and continue to accommodate the wishes of other consumers with AEROX & LEXI units, “said M. Abidin in his presentation in front of UNDIP Mechanical Engineering students.

Furthermore, with a comfortable general lecture atmosphere and attended by around 150 Undip Mechanical Engineering students, M. Abidin conveyed to Mechanical Engineering students that (with illustrations) students should be able to become a lobster rather than a shrimp. “Shrimp usually live on the surface, they are easy to prey on. While lobsters usually live at the bottom. They are more resistant to pressure by hardening themselves. Making themselves stronger, so he is more successful,” said Abidin. In addition, the key to Yamaha’s success is Speed, Accuracy, and Effective (SAE) which is always conveyed to all employees of PT. Yamaha.

Dr. eng. Munadi and Sri Nugoho, PhD as representatives of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, UNDIP welcomed this public lecture. “We really appreciate this positive activity, because our students really need up to date information on technology and the automotive market. On behalf of UNDIP, I would like to thank you for the information that has been provided to our students, and I hope that the relationship can continue.” (mnd)
