Semarang-Located at the Diponegoro University Industrial Engineering Department Building, PT Toyota Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) again contributed to the Department of Industrial Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering as one of the “Monozukuri Project” agendas as a form of TOYOTA sharing together to build the nation. The handover took place on Friday, March 9, 2018.
PT TMMIN assistance in the form of laboratory aids in the form of “1 package of Lean Manufacturing Laboratory and 1 package of Lean Production System Laboratory” to the Department of Industrial Engineering, and props “Engine Test Mobil Innova 1 TR” to the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The direct handover was given by the President Director of PT TMMIN Warih Andang Tjahjono, accompanied by the Director of Admin, Corporate, and External Relations of TMMIN Bob Azam, Director of Manufacturing Toermoedi, and General Manager of CSR Adjie Sapta, to the Chancellor of Diponegoro University Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum and accompanied by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Ir. In his remarks, Warih Andang said that “the gap between industrial needs and human resources can potentially be overcome through the presence of the younger generation who are potential elements of the Indonesian nation, so we hope that with this educational aid donation activity, students can get to know the real world of industry. Hopefully, this synergy and collaboration with educational practitioners and professional academics can provide real experience for students when they graduate.” In addition, according to Warih, the main reason for making Undip as a role model for the Toyota Sharing Knowledge program is because this university is one of the 10 best universities based on the assessment of the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education in 2017.

Furthermore, this “Engine Test Mobil Innova I TR” teaching aid will be distributed to the Thermofluid laboratory under the Chair of the Syaiful Laboratory, ST, MT, Ph.D to support the “Engine Achievement Practice” in the “Piston Fuel Motor” module. Previously, the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University, had also received the assistance of a Fortuner car that was used for education and research. This Fortuner car has been handed over to the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Laboratory under the direction of Dr. Ir Nazaruddin S., MS. The use of related Fortuner cars for education is useful, among others:
- As a supporter and part of the piston fuel motor course. Contains explanations and demonstrations to students about:
- Diesel engines and vehicle parts as a whole
- Common rail diesel engine working system and fuel system, electronic control unit (ECU) working system, turbo charger system, transmission system, air conditioning system (AC);
- How to measure vehicle operating parameters and find the source of damage, how to measure torque, power, and exhaust gas analysis;
- How to measure vehicle operating parameters and find the source of damage, how to measure torque, power, and exhaust gas analysis;
- As the object of assignment in the Fluid Mechanics II and Heat Transfer II courses, among others, to:
- Analyzing and calculating the flow in the airways using the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) method;
- Analyzing the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor using the CFD method;
- Analyzing the turbo-charged system using the CFD method;
- Analyzing the engine cooling system (radiator) using the CFD method;
- Analyze the vehicle cabin air engine cooling system using the CFD method;
As for related to research, among others as objects in student Final Project research and lecturer research with the topic:
- Design and manufacture of medium and large capacity dynamometers;
- Design and manufacture a dyno controller and auto-throttle that will be used in testing using a dyno;
- Research on the manufacture of accelerators and fuel-saving devices;
- Research to find the operating conditions of energy efficient vehicles;
- Research for duel fuel conversion: diesel-LPG, diesel-CNG, diesel-methanol, and diesel-ethanol.
