Moscow – The Diponegoro University (Undip) student team not only enlivened the 21st Moscow International Inventions and Innovative Technology Salon ‘Archimedes’, but also managed to bring home a gold medal at the event which took place in Russia. In the event which was held on April 5-8 2018, the Undip student team introduced an artificial tree called ATOMP (Artificial Transparent Tree of Membrane Photocatalyst). This was conveyed in the release of the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow received by detikcom, Thursday (12/4/2018).

In addition to winning the ‘Archimedes’ gold medal, the Undip student team also received the Special Awards Gold Medal from the Association of Thai Innovation and Invention Promotion. The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus, M. Wahid Supriyadi, greatly appreciated the participation initiatives and the success achieved by the Undip student team in this prestigious competition and exhibition. In addition to showing the results of their work and new innovations, their participation is also to add insight, knowledge, experience and networking. “Russia is a country that has high science and technology. Cooperation with Russia in the field of technology is an opportunity for us,” Ambassador Wahid received the Undip student team at the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow.

The Undip student team consists of four people, namely Christian M.T. Sinaga (Electrical Engineering), Aurelia T. Senduk (Environmental Engineering), Eko Wahyu Saputro (Mechanical Engineering) from the Faculty of Engineering, and Beti Safitri (Chemistry) from the Faculty of Science and Mathematics.

Christian said, this artificial tree works by absorbing air from the atmosphere and filtering it with a membrane installed in the air hose. This membrane will filter carbon dioxide (CO2) gas with other gases that enter. Carbon dioxide gas will be converted by plasma technology into oxygen gas (O2) which will be released out of the system and carbon monoxide (CO) gas which will be stored for further conversion into alternative fuels.

Moscow International Inventions and Innovative Technology Salon ‘Archimedes’ is an annual international event in the form of research and technology competitions and exhibitions. In ‘Archimedes’ this time presented various groups of inventions and technological innovations, such as medicine and medical technology, transportation, mechanical engineering, aerospace industry, information technology and telecommunications, metallurgy, argoindustry, protection and human rescue. The exhibition was attended by representatives from 26 countries such as Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, India, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Kazakhstan, and Portugal, as well as 55 regions in Russia, including various educational institutions.
