The endless human work encourages Diponegoro University (Undip) students, Dedy Mulianto and Tanto Nugroho to take advantage of technological advances by creating additional robotic arms that can carry out activities like human hands. Under the guidance of an Undip Mechanical Engineering lecturer, Mochammad Ariyanto, ST, MT; Dr. eng. Munadi, ST, MT and Joga Dharma Setiawan, BSc., MSc., PhD., both designed tools that can facilitate daily work.

Reported from the Undip page, Monday (22/1/2018), both admitted that they were inspired by the figure of Dr. Octopus in the Spiderman 2 movie which has robotic hands in carrying out its action.

“The way it works can be done by moving the IMU (Inertial Measuring Unit) sensor which is placed on the human arm in the direction of roll or pitch so that the arm will follow it, and using the flex sensor to control the movement of the soft gripper in grasping the object and the flex sensor is used to lock the movement. so that the human hand can move freely when the robotic arm is working,” explained Dedy and Tanto.

The motion control of the robotic arm created by two students is located on the Neural Network, as well as the ability to read the IMU sensor which is inserted in the user’s two hands to move the arm and the flex sensor which is attached to the little finger. This object is what will move the soft robotic gripper. They hope that the creation of this tool can help humans perform multiple activities at the same time.
